To start the new year I took a trip to a place like no other, Thailand. Overflowing with culture, architecture, breathtaking scenery and smiley locals and tourists; it was never lacking interesting things to point my camera at. Travelling solo, my camera acted as a companion to me, the thing that would allow me to share these memories happening right before my eyes with myself as well as my friends and family back in London. My heart was filled with love and kindness everywhere I travelled in Thailand. The images from Bangkok display the hectic street life of the big city, the rich colours of countless temples glistening under the sun. Chiang Mai opened my eyes to raw and unforgettable culture and people, a quiet place, home to beautiful viewpoints and many elephant sanctuary's. The island of Kho Pha-ngan served me well for the last part of my trip. Tranquil beaches made for some of my favourite photographs and I am excited to share them with you! I hope you enjoy. What Pho and The Grand Palace are two temples I visited in Bangkok. I was lost for words when faced with the beautiful, intricate architecture built hundreds of years ago. Ambient sunlight lit every angle of each building, bounced off of the golden statues to create a magical, serene place of Buddhist worship. Photographed below are two cars on the streets of Chiang Mai, shot in a style inspired by William Eggleston because I really enjoy the abstract angles and rich colours. I managed to capture a Thai policemen pulling over to light a cigarette, it's one of my favourite photos from my time in Thailand. It was really exciting for me to capture small things such as this that I would not encounter back in London. It's new to me and helped me to establish what I am interested in capturing and taking pictures of. Meeting so many interesting people during my travels it was a pleasure to spend time taking portraits of them that we could both keep forever. Visiting the Elephant Sanctuary was no doubt the highlight of my trip. Up in the mountains I felt a kind of peace that is undescribable in words or pictures. The Karen Hill tribe guided us around the sanctuary to meet the elephants and feed them sugar canes, they educated us and allowed us into their world of caring for these wise animals. Here are some final pictures from my holiday. I enjoyed every minute in Thailand and was an experience of a lifetime.
